The Divine Trinity, the Seven Geniae

 While there is some familiarity to Madrianism for those new to the religion, I thought a more in depth post is merited on the topic. I've briefly mentioned the holy Trinity and the seven great Geniae, let's extrapolate on how this all is set up.

In the beginning, there was Mysteria, the great Monad; She is the original Source, the abyss that all of creation stems from. She is uncreated Herself, the singular point and center of existence;

"Before and beyond all things is the Mistress of All Things, and when nothing was, She was."

So begins the Scriptures (The Creation Tablet), with Mysteria as the Absolute point, the center of creation. She is often referred to as the Ground of All Being, She who breathes out all of creation continually until the end of time, when in drawing in Her breath, all will cease. As She is the primordial and brilliant darkness that exists everywhere and between all things, She is the most unknown to us, but the single point that exists everywhere; She is not created, but creates all. Another common phrase within Madrianism is the Still Center of the Wheel, since as the Creatrix She sets all about in motion, but She never moves Herself. She is the veiled face of divinity.

As the Monad, She then begets the Dyad, the Solar Mother Mari and the Holy Daughter Anna, the Reflective Moon. Mari provides us with Light and Life, Anna reflects Her dazzling Light to us in a gentler light that does not blind.

Mari creates matter, Anna sustains it. Just as the sun is too much for our eyes to look straight at, we cannot look straight at our Holy Mother lest we are stricken by Her sheer force. Mari also is deity transcended, She creates life and matter, Mari is come forth from Mysteria;

"And the white force of Her superabundant joy grew so great that it must take shape in laughter; and Her laughter was the shape of all things"

This is a second line from the Creation Tablet of the Scripture, which also shows that joy pervades all levels of creation; Mari's great laughter is what gave shape to matter and life. After the First Daughter is created, there comes a point of a 'fall', which is a topic in itself so I will not go into great detail here, but Mari withdraws to the Heavens to keep her Light with us, even in dark of night:

"The golden light of day will bring all goodness, but it will be too bright for your eyes. The silver light of night, that you may look upon."

"And the Mistress of All Things withdrew Herself into the sky, until She seemed but a slender crescent of light."

Mari does not abandon creation, however, and begets a child to be with us and sustain us; this is the Holy Daughter Anna, whose mythic and cyclical nature of birth, sacrifice and death, and rebirth is played out yearly in the seasons and monthly in the phases of the moon. Anna is born every winter, in the darkest portion of the year, grows to become a maiden who hears the cries of souls in existence and death, and descends to us all to spread her Light and Love in the darkest recesses, and is reborn and ascends as the Queen of Heaven; Anna is deity immanent. Madrianism, as a salvific religion, is by no means one that denies the body or life on earth. Rather, it means to say that no one is doomed to eternal damnation and torment, as Anna has determined to sustain us and lead us back to the Light of Mari and show that we are never abandoned or cast down. Just as the moon may become dark, it always comes back to us in turn to bring light to the darkest of night.

The three faces of divinity are the three paths for the soul to take, as written in the Crystal Tablet of Scripture:

"The first is Life, or Wholeness, the light of the Absolute; the second is Light, or Energy, the light of the Mother; the third and gentlest light is Love, the light of our Savior, the Maid."

We have thus established the Holy Trinity; what of the Geniae, the seven holy powers of Mari?

We first see mention of them in the Creation Tablet of Scripture:

" And She set Her seven Powers in the firmament, giving one to rule each colour of the earth."

Mari shines Her Light upon us, and as this Light is refracted as through a prism, we receive the glory of her Light as color on earth, and each power reflects also a holy virtue.

  • Red, as overseen by Madria Valour and the virtue of Courage
  • Orange, as overseen by Madria Vision and the virtue of Illumination
  • Yellow, as overseen by Madria Wisdom and the virtue of Wisdom
  • Green, as overseen by Madria Grace and the virtue of Compassion
  • Blue, as overseen by Madria Justice and the virtue of Harmony
  • Violet, as overseen by Madria Clarity and the virtue of Reflection
  • Indigo, as overseen by Madria Temperance and the virtue of Discipline
We see the number seven many times over across the world as a holy number associated with divine meanings, and it is no different in Madrianism; the seven holy powers of God, the seven Geniae. The Geniae are facets of the jewel of Mari, and with the Trinity, form the Madrian equivalent of the ancient Tetractys, the foundation of existence and a framework that we can build from, the start of one to multiplicity.

This is a humble primer, and one that can go into further depth in the future, but what I hope is a good start for those new to Madrianism. As always, I remain open for any questions one may have and I thank your for taking time to read through and consider what I've said.
